Head, shoulders, knees and toes

I am not generally a squeamish person, I don’t think.  And I have a fairly high tolerance for pain.  That being said, anything above the neck gives me the willies.  For example.  I would LOVE to have Lasix and wake up in the morning able to see the alarm clock.  Or swim with my kids without contacts.  But the idea of someone coming at my eyes with a needle just freaks me out.  It isn’t the pain that bothers me.  It is the idea that it is my EYE and if they screw up I could be blind!  And it doesn’t stop there.  A few years ago I had to have dental surgery.  Surgery, real surgery not just a filling, root canal, etc.  I was so nervous about it I had to be sedated for the procedure.  Which leads me to the point of this discussion.  As bothered as I am about stuff realted to my head and its varied components, if someone said “we can do surgery  on your brain and you would never have another migraine or headache for the rest of your life—GAR-UN-TEED” I would say “sign me up!!!”
I have lived with these stinking headaches since middle school and  I am just done with it!  Seriously, if I thought it would “cure” me, I would drill the hole in my head myself.  What is it about a headache or a toothache that make them so intolerable.  Are there more pain receptors and nerve endings or is it the fact that the pain is inaccessible and there is nothing you can do to make it better?  I don’t know but ….the day the come up with the plan to drill into my head and make this go away for ever—I’m there.
