The mesquites have leaves!!!

For those of you who do not live in Texas, or are not familiar with mesquite trees, when the mesquites get leaves that is your sign that winter is over.  Typically, they don’t have leaves yet.  But we had a warm winter and spring came early.  So the mequites have leaves—which means it is time to plant!  We, and by we I mean Mr. G, have the garden going.  The lettuce, spinach, onions and cabbage are already up.  This weekend we got some tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers to put in the ground.  The rest of the veggies will come from seeds:  beans and squash I know for sure.  I don’t know what else he has planned this summer.
I also started buying some plants/flowers to put in pots on the front porch and deck.  But I didn’t get any of them potted.  Because I spent 2 hours mowing grass.  And over an hour vacumming the pool.  It was pretty nasty.  Not as much like Shrek’s swamp as it was last spring, but I still wouldn’t have wanted to jump into it.  It is looking better.  Mr. G thinks that if the weather stays warm the kids might be able to swim by Easter!  That is just amazing to me. This will be the 5th summer that we’ve had the pool and we’ve never gotten in before the end of May.  And even then it is usually pretty darn cold!
We have scorpions.  Yes, AGAIN!!! I don’t know what it is about our area, or house, or lot, but for some reason we have them every spring and summer.  Mr. G found 3 in the yard this weekend—one was on his hand—ICK!! So, I’ve gotta find an exterminator that specializes in these nasty critters.  The boys and I walk around barefooted too often to have these little nasties running around our house.
I skipped out on my workout today.  I’m weary!! This yardwork stuff wears you out!!
I’ve got lots of pics to upload and show you of what has been going on around here—but, truth is, I’m too lazy to upload them right now.  🙂  I’ll get to that soon.
In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying your spring.
Blessings friends!
